Information in english
Väsman VinterArena is a non-profit association dedicated to creating and maintaining natural ice skating trails on Lake Väsman and Burtjärn in Ludvika, Sweden. Our work is entirely volunteer-driven, and every contribution we receive – from sponsors, donors, and members – goes directly into keeping the ice in good condition. Funds cover equipment, fuel, maintenance, and repairs. No one in the association is paid; everything is made possible by community engagement and passion for outdoor winter activities.

Our Ice Trails
Burtjärn
Burtjärn, located between Burens and Sörvik, offers a 1.3 km loop that typically freezes early and rarely develops cracks. This allows us to open the season sooner than on larger lakes and enjoy stable ice far into the winter.
The starting point is marked with a flag by the bathing area, where you will also find an information board, seating, and a public fire pit – perfect for a warm break between laps.
Lake Väsman
When open, the trails on Lake Väsman start at Skuthamn and can also be reached from the Ludvika marina. From there, the routes extend toward Sörvik, Brunnsvik, Norrvik, and Dröverka. Each stop along the way has an information board and map.
Our volunteers drill test holes regularly along the trail and publish updated ice conditions on our website. Please refer to the Ice Report page for current safety information.
